"Make visible what, without you, might perhaps never have been seen.”-- Robert Bresson

I'm Björn photographic artist & filmmaker--originally from NY. I consider myself a citizen of the world & currently reside in Asheville, NC. Among my photographic influences are: Robert Bresson, Gordon Parks, Richard Avedon, Cecil Beaton, David Bailey,Erwin Blumenfeld, Lillian Bassman, Patrick Lichfield,Terence Donovan, Eugene Atget & Lord Snowdon.

My particular interests are: Fashion, Alt, Retro 30's/40's/60's/70's, Avant Garde, Surrealism Victoriana, Travel, Anachronistic Narrative & Editorial. In short anything that interests me & has a sense of the wonder of life, and less of the business of making a picture.

My viewpoint can be summed up as George Eastman Said: "Light makes photography. Embrace light. Admire it. Love it. But above all, know light. Know it for all you are worth, and you will know the key to photography." I use both film & digital to create photographs.Which I choose all depends upon the desired outcome that I want to achieve. I also create short impressionistic films (motion pictures) in digital & 16mm.

At any given time I choose to exhibit less than 0.05% of my work online & there are of course the obvious reasons for doing so. More importantly I have a huge body of work. Much of which is still being cataloged, scanned. In the photographic arts I'm working with subtle frequencies, the elements of light, space & time. I'm documenting an inner and outer reality. A travel log along psychic landscapes with an optical process that's roughly 500 years old.

When light enters our eyes we are all constantly recording images, either voluntarily or involuntarily. Those light photons are then projected somewhere deep within our organic "camera obscura" --- or the dark chamber of the mind. I use various photographic methods for preserving those images, these scenes along the fleeting journey that we call life. When creating photographs I always try to leave enough wild space to allow for the profound or magical to occur. It's in excavating the layers of memory & listening to the stories of the lives once lived in the time & space that surrounds us, that I endeavor to discover the light of creation. I'll consider all projects worldwide that interest me.
